http://www.searchmarketingarena.com/questions/418/items-description-for-a-multilanguage-siteItems Description for a Multilanguage Siteenzone2009-12-14T18:53:10Z2010-03-09T00:23:28Z

Hi,
if I've a multilanguage site for selling something (eg. cars), every user has the possibility to add detail field and a general description field.

Now, regarding the description field which is the best solution:

1) Give to the user to update/insert a Description for each languages.

Pro: The user can manage the description for all languages. If they are populated I've pages with the specific content language

Contro: I've the real possibility that for some languages the Item doesn't have the Descrition populated if it is not entered by the users.

2)The users will update/insert only one Descriptions for a specific language (based on the login language page).

Pro: In this case I've all the page with the Descriptions

Contro: On a Eng page I should have Ita Description

3) the scenario 2 but using a JS to traslate with Google Traslator the content

Pro: all the pages will have for the end user an automatic traslator page

Contro: maybe Google continue to read in a wrong language (no JS are executed).

Which is the best approach in the case?

Moving around in many portals I've noticed that they are using for simplicity the option (2)

Hi,
is not so clear for me what is really duplicate content and what is ok...obviously it is clear that if I copy and paste an article from another website it is duplicate content, but I would like to have more clear some different topics:

Article Marketing Webites: May I have an article written by me that is published on my website, and I want to push it in the article marketing sites (one or more)...If I put the article as it is:

Do I create a duplicate content? If yes but to who? For me? For the article marketing sites?

Do I have to choose if publish it on the Article Marketing sites or on my Website? Which is better?

May I publish the same article to more than one Article Marketing site?

Aggregator Websites: is it clear that they don't create duplicate content...but why, if I have an article that is on my sites and it is published also on some aggregator sites.

When making site with content in multiple languages is it better to:

separate it using sub-domains

separate it using sub-folders

generate it depending on browser preferred language and/or geoip setting and then settings stored in cookies. That sounds good but… Will it work for different search engines? Do they have preferred language set in their request headers?

According to Commission Junction help section, publishers who bank in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the US and the UK are eligible to receive their commissions via direct deposit into their bank account, rather than by check.

As you can see, Italy is not included in the list and I haven't been able to find a way to get paid via Direct Deposit. Checks are slow and expensive and I had to increase the minimum payout amount to reduce the number of checks per year.

Is there any Italian Commission Junction user here? How do you get payments?

A while ago, we hired someone do re-do our corporate web site. They way the designed our site, they use some 50 keywords for each page, most of which are tangentially related to our products or services. Could these be muddying the waters as far as rankings?

The reason I ask is that the web-login for one of our flagship products, which has no SEO other than the URL is the name of the product, is the #1 search result, while the page on our corporate website promoting the product doesn't even place in the search results!

Is it safe to move the Google Analytics tracking code into an external javascript file and link it instead of writing the code in each page?
What I want to do is to take the following code

and save it as google-analytics.js. Then I would rather use something like the following code in all my pages.

Does it makes sense? Would it work?

In case you are wondering why I need to move the tracking code, my application architecture is quite complex and all the JavaScript and CSS files are minified and compressed on deploy. The technical department asked to merge the Google Analytics JavaScript code with the other JavaScript files to take advantage of asset caching.

http://www.searchmarketingarena.com/questions/522/redirect-traffic-from-old-googlepages-com-website-to-new-domainRedirect traffic from old .googlepages.com website to new domainvrish882010-02-08T23:47:19Z2010-02-08T23:47:19Z

Hello all,

I've got a site on an old googlepages.com site that has a fairly high searching engine result for choice keywords and I'd like to redirect search engines to a new domain address. Now I understand that this can be accomplished with 301 redirects but I do not have that level of control through the googlepages interface on the old site.

So I did some research and I found one solution that seems feasible. In this solution the author suggests that you:

Replace your current site with a single link to the new site which also passes parameters which tell which page it's coming from.

On that page figure out what is the corresponding page on the new site.

Send a 301 redirect back to the browser to the corresponding page.

So the question is, is this feasible and will it work? Are there better solutions out there?

Thanks.
